Citrus Tree Disease Management!

Hi everyone, and welcome to my channel. My name is Pat, and I run Warner's Tree Surgery with my husband Warner. We have been treating sick trees for over fifty years in Maricopa County, Arizona, and we work within thirty miles of Mesa, Arizona. In this video, I'm going to talk about the diseases of citrus and how Warner can help you with your citrus tree problems.

Common Citrus Tree Diseases:

Citrus Greening (Huanglongbing or HLB): Caused by a bacterium spread by the Asian citrus psyllid. Symptoms: Yellowing, mottling, blotching of leaves, misshapen, bitter, and green fruits. There is no cure; infected trees eventually die.

Citrus Canker: Caused by a bacterium that infects leaves, stems, and fruits. Symptoms: Raised, brown, corky lesions on the plant surface. Spread by wind, rain, insects, and human activities. Controlled by removing infected trees and applying copper-based fungicides.

Citrus Scab: Caused by a fungus that infects leaves, twigs, and fruits. Symptoms: Scabby, wart-like growths on the plant surface. Spread by wind, rain, and pruning tools. Controlled by applying fungicides and practicing good sanitation.

Citrus Black Spot: Caused by a fungus that infects fruits. Symptoms: Dark, circular spots on ripe fruits, which can crack and become sunken. Spread by rain, wind, and infected plant material Controlled by applying fungicides and removing fallen fruits.

Root Rot: Caused by various fungi or water molds that infect roots.

Symptoms: Root decay, wilting, yellowing, dropping of leaves, stunted growth, and reduced fruit yield. Favored by poor drainage, overwatering, or soil compaction. Prevented by improving soil aeration and drainage, and applying fungicides or biological agents.
